Guiding Light: Do you think Ashlee should've gotten the surgery?

First of all I think the storyline with her and her bf is soo sweet. It was amazing that he accepted her fro who she was...I wish I could find a guy like that *sigh* but anyway I think she was beautiful the size she was. Do you think she got the surgery in real life? It's a nice change to see a fuller figured person on a soap opera instead of all the skinny model figures...They chose the gastric banding because it takes more time to lose weight so maybe she's going to exercise it off? Why do they want her to lose weight anyway. Its a great storyline but I love the full figured Ashlee! I think its saying that most bigger people don't like being that way...

I was just thinking about this the other day. It made me a little angry at first that the writers were going with this story line. Anytime an actress isn't stick thin they give her weight issues. It was nice to see an actress with such confidence and strong personality and not be so thin...

The only thing I could think of is maybe she was doing the surgery in her real life.

I was just wondering myself what they planned on doing with her weight. I agree, I think she's a beautiful person just the way she is. It is obvious that her character does lack some confidence though......maybe this will help..

I am enjoying the relationship between Ashley %26amp; Coop. And I love the relationship between Lizzie %26amp; Bill. They are both great couples!!!
i am pretty sure she already got the surgury due to the amount of time she has been off screen. (just speculation) i would say she might be upset by her story lines always having something to due with her weight.
maybe she did it too be healthy. i love coopley. i stopped watching gl for a while and saw some of their clips on youtube and i was hooked. they got me back into gl. its good to see a 'real' woman on soaps but being over weight is not healthy. i feel like the writers rushed this sl tho. i wished that they discussed all the downsides to being over weight, not just the social aspect but the medical. developing heart prob or diabeties etc. 2 weeks ago we didnt see anything about coop and ashley then last week she suddenly wants the surgery and now this week she went under the knife. it moved too fast. but at least coop is being a loving and supportive boyfriend. we should all be so lucky
I think Ashley is absolutley beautiful just how she is. But if she will feel better to lose the weight she should do it. I just hope she doesnt feel like she has to just to be like the other actresses. Its nice to see a woman on tv that isnt so skinny.
I too was sad to see this storyline develop, I remember when Lauren was so mean to Tracy on Y%26amp;R so many many years ago. They were teenagers and Tracy was overweight. I also don't want to see another diet pill fiasco. Ashley is such a great character on the show. She has done a few strange things (but what characters don't) like shooting Alan, but I like how she fought for her man. Speaking of Coop. What a great guy. I like how they made sure he talked with her about the risks of the surgery, that she didn't have to do it for him that he loved her for herself. I just hope that Blake doesn't F this up. She sure is trying. I wish they would bring Ross back to settle her down. She is stalking him trying to get herself a young man. Where are Blake's kids???? just wondering

They have treated Ashely's weight issue very well. I am thinking that in real life she wanted to have this surgery. Hopefully for herself and no other reason. Do be healthier. Not to be skinny. She and her boyfriend broke up awhile back I read. I hope she is doing this for the right reasons. I'm sure we will see an article in CBS soaps or such soon.

I hope that they will show her making better choices with her snacks, meals and taking counseling classes and show that she has to change her exercise habits to loose this weight. It will show that it is not an overnight "fix" too. Losing weight healhily takes time. Sometimes years. They need to show that.
She possibly had the surgery in real life and so they had to make it part of the storyline. with the gastric banding it takes time still to loose the weight. She also will never be a little skinny minny, I don't think, from what I understand the surgery helps you to slim down but not become a size 2 like most soap stars look like.
