I currently live in the Sacramento area and am looking to start an acting career. I'm aiming more towards television/ film, but theater is always a good beginning. I鈥檇 love to work on the set of a soap opera or something though! I am not looking to move any time soon, and am really just looking to start a resume. I have no idea how to go about auditioning without a resume, nor where to go for quality head shots. I used to be somewhat savvy in this area, but it's been a while and I feel like a beginner all over again. Any advice is more than welcome. Thanks so much!

Sacramento is not the best place to become an actor. Start building your resume with community theatre plays and a few acting classes. the plays are more important than the classes. You do not need expensive head shots. Get in a play or two or three and take a class or two and you will soon be quite savvy again.

yeah acting is acting...and a lot of people take offense when you say "theater is a good beginning" because for those of us who love the actual craft of acting and entertaining... not much compares to that gratification. But that being said Sac has a ton of community theater. i promise.
There are several theater companies in Sacramento that you could get involved with, including the Drama department at Sac City Junior College. There is also a strong independent film scene that always needs actors, and there is always Trash Film Orgy.
